How to store PCB

 IPC Standards
The IPC-1601 standard for managing PCBs stipulates that they be managed at a humidity of 10% RH or less.

 Preventing moisture absorption in PCBs
When PCB are exposed to normal atmospheric conditions, they absorb moisture from the air. This applies particularly to multilayer PCBs, where the thinner the layers, the higher the rate of moisture absorption. If the moisture content of a PCB rises to 0.2 wt% or more, the heat of reflow soldering during surface mounting causes problems such as delamination and measling. To prevent this, PCBs that have been removed from their moisture barrier bags should immediately be stored in a McDry ultra-low-humidity storage cabinet to prevent moisture absorption.

 Preventing oxidation in PCBs

If PCBs are stored in a McDry cabinet at a humidity of 5% RH or less, the progress of oxidation in the copper foil components on the PCB surfaces can be slowed.


 Using McDry storage cabinets Low
1) Storage of PCB substrates in storage cabinets
2) Cabinet storage from single-side surface mounting through to the next process
3) Cabinet storage from surface mounting through to component post-processing
4) Repairs: PCBs to be repaired are first baked and then stored in a storage cabinet to prevent moisture absorption.
(This prevents PCB delamination or measling caused by heating during reworking.)
